Marriage is to be honored by all, and husbands and wives must be faithful to each other. God will judge those who are immoral and those who commit adultery.

Hebrew 13:4, The Good News Translation

Rules. Boundaries. Guidelines. Guardrails. These are just a few of the names for the protective measures couples identify, agree upon, and place around their marriage. These measures are necessary regarding relationships and behaviors with people outside of marriage.  Reading through the list, some names may appeal to you more than others. In truth, you may not like some of the names, and that’s okay. What you name them is trivial; having them in place is primary. For this day, we’ll refer to them as a wall. Specifically, a garden wall. This imagery lends to the view we’d like for you to keep in sight as you consider protective measures in your relationship.
