Romance is God-designed.  And God writes with beautiful language to describe it. The wording in Song of Songs 4 - with one glance of your eyes - is golden. It’s the kind of wording that makes a heart swoon.  Leave it to God to come up with the best love story lines in history and leave it to God to continually remind us that he gives the best gifts. God-designed romance is a gift.

The first exciting bubbles of the heart may have shown up on the first date, but they were intended to be only the beginning – the beginning of a lifetime of feeling chosen and cherished. The take-my-breath-away feeling that you experience with your spouse is one that should only strengthen with time. In case you forgot, this is a gift. One you should both give and receive.

The world will say otherwise. The world will say that romance is lost in marriage, and daily there is opportunity for our sense of self image and esteem to be battered, broken, or questioned. The media is flooded with advertisements, and the market is saturated with products that take aim at one of our worst fears – that we will lose our desirability We worry about growing older, growing unattractive, and growing less appealing.
