In the Gospel of Luke, we read,

“And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.” Luke 2:4-7, ESV

On the first Christmas morning, God sent the greatest gift ever given; He sent his son. Into a humble manger, love that was (and is) bigger than life arrived in tiny, human form. The swaddled baby would be the personal way for each of us to know the Father, and His presence both then and now leaves us full of wonder. Wonder that is beyond what we could hope for or imagine. Regardless of familiarity, it’s a story that never tires or becomes ordinary; it is marked with an eternal, extraordinary brilliance. It is the story that proclaims the Almighty’s message: I really love you.
