Guilty.

How can a two-syllable word feel like the heaviest? Or six letters seemingly linger for what feels like a lifetime? Simple. Guilt pierces the heart and proliferates. It grows. It gets bigger and bigger eventually turning into factions of regret, anger, fear, shame, and self-loathing. Unable to shake guilt, we stuff it, store it, and eventually stink of it.

Polluting us; guilt labels us. And guilty becomes a heavy, grueling word.
