Laughter has a role in your marriage. Among all the schedules, chores, work demands, community involvement, romance, and parenting, there is a time for merriment, mirth, and glee (all synonyms for laughter). In our Five Stones office, we do not often hear couples talking about the mirth in their marriage, but maybe we should. Maybe some of the heaviness that can exist in marriage would be offset with laughter. Not laughter at each other’s expense or laughter at a heart-breaking situation, but laughter that is both timely and appropriate. Humor that builds and supports the relationship rather than tearing it down or causing damage. Scripture says that there is a time to laugh.
