I keep a good, teaching-type of quotes on prayer within my heart. I have written them on the walls of our office, and I have them available for writing. I have listed a few below:

  • Relational Prayer is us communicating in a real way with the God of the universe where we speak and we also listen. Not only that, but we learn to hear, not in a mystical way, but in a practical way. We learn that knowing God has so much more for us as Christians then any blessing here on earth. The blessings on earth are referred to as “second things” -- second to knowing God, which should be our “first thing”. Larry Crabb in his book, The Papa Prayer

  • Prayer is not the use of a force, it’s not magic, it’s a conversation with a person. John Ortberg

  • Prayer in its simplest form is this: We speak; God listens. God speaks; we listen. Max Lucado
