Scripture is a Familiar Conversation

As the inside work of a major move has slowed, my thoughts have turned to the outside. God has blessed us with a big, new yard. I have been pondering how to make it mine. Where to install a new water spicket? How to make a walkway lined with blooms? Where to transplant the daylilies? When it comes to gardening, I am ever in student mode. Mistakes are common, but so are successes. John is always watchful (and helpful) of my endeavor. My phone holds an image of John digging in the lily beds, and I often comment that it’s the sexiest picture I have of him. Jake, our chocolate Labrador, is more curious than helpful. And I might suggest that he can lean toward judgy. When it comes to unearthing dirt, Jake is the skilled master. He can dig a very decent hole while I blink – or so it seems. I grin thinking of how inept I must look from his perspective. God gifted Jake with built-in shovels. God the Creator; God the Gardener.
