Chores. The endlessness of them.
Within their wake, they can steal the details of thoughtfulness within Marriage.
Making the bed recently, I realized John had thrown his shirt and glasses onto his side. Earlier, he had changed into a t-shirt to help me wash our dog. Moving the items aside, I made the bed, and then tossed them back as I found them. Back as I had found them was acceptable; it was the minimum required; and it was defendable. Afterall, it’s how I found them.
But God…
As I smoothed covers and replaced throw pillows, I kept thinking about how I could leave the shirt. I considered how I would have left the shirt in the first year of our marriage. I pondered how I would like for John to leave my items. I considered the moment and knew that it was a moment for thoughtfulness to be put into action. It was moment I could demonstrate loving care.
